For the lobby of Motel One Würzburg, the German-Czech painter Jaroslav Drazil created three large-scale oil paintings: a modern interpretation of the continents Asia, Africa and America, inspired by the famous ceiling fresco of the Würzburg Residence. Moving between realism, clarity and abstract space, the works play with stereotypes and invite reflection. Each painting tells the “soul of the continent” through a human figure and the silhouette of an animal.
